Lisa Winer

Counsel

Ms. Winer leads the Firm's Family Law practice.  In addition to domestic relations matters, Ms. Winer represents clients in civil matters, including personal injury, and criminal matters.

She is a litigation attorney licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She began her career as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Vincent J. Femia of the Circuit Court for Prince George's County. Thereafter, she worked as an Assistant State's Attorney.  For more than fifteen years, Lisa has been in private practice in Montgomery County representing clients in legal issues involving corporate law, civil litigation, and family law.

Ms. Winer represents men and women in divorces, custody matters, child support, prenuptial agreements and postnuptial agreements, separation agreements, and all other domestic relations matters.  She has been qualified to represent children in custody matters as a "best interests" attorney (formerly known as a guardian ad litem).

Ms. Winer has a special interest in resolving domestic matters without litigation.  She is experienced and trained in alternative dispute resolution techniques, including informal negotiation, mediation, arbitration, parenting coordination, and collaborative family law, all of which are aimed at resolving family disputes in a dignified setting.  A healthy approach to family law will value a client's emotional wealth as well as his or her financial concerns. Borne of her own experience as a divorced mother of three children, Ms. Winer's role goes beyond assistance with legal issues, extending to financial concerns, emotional support, and most importantly to a detailed blueprint for accomplishing her client's goals.

Ms. Winer has taught at Prince George's Community College, the Maryland State Police Academy, and the Prince George's Police Academy. She serves on the Board of Directors of the National Family Resiliency Center. She is active in the community, volunteering for the Montgomery County Abused Persons Program and many other community organizations.  She is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts and the Simon Sobeloff Society.

Ms. Winer is a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park and she received her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
